MICHAEL JOSEPH RUNKLE was born in Durham, North Carolina on February 18, 1983.
Growing up he was a wrestler in high school where he won two Greco-Roman state championships and one freestyle state championship. It was there he learned the value of hard work and dedication. Michael went on to play rugby for the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for 5 years where he also played on the North Carolina collegiate all-star team for two of those years.
He graduated from UNCW with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy with an emphasis on metaphysics and logic. Michael then went to Thomas Jefferson School of Law and graduated in 2009. In his studies at Thomas Jefferson, he received two Jefferson Medal awards for academic excellence in trial practice and global workplace law.
Michael has worked in the legal industry since 2007 and has experience in criminal defense, DUI, business litigation, drafting and reviewing contracts, wrongful termination, unlawful detainer and general civil litigation.
Before entering the legal profession, Michael has worked in a wide range of fields which include commercial fishing, serving, bar-tending, cook, retail and residential construction (framing, siding, concrete, and electrical wiring).
Michael has traveled to 9 different countries and has had the opportunity to live in both France and China for international legal studies.
Michael’s interests include Muay Thai, camping, guns, outdoor activities, fine dining, sports, travel, learning about different cultures, expanding his knowledge of the law, his understanding of people and helping others.

Fanny Cherng: Of Counsel

Fanny Cherng was born in San Jose, CA. From there she moved to Arcadia, CA near Los Angeles. After graduating from High School, Fanny already knew that she wanted to be a lawyer. Fanny went to College at the University of California San Diego where she majored in Political Science and minored in Law and Society. Fanny also obtained a legal secretary position with a local practitioner focusing in construction defects and business litigation. She held this position throughout her four years in College.
While vigorously pursuing her academics and working, Fanny also participated in the UCSD Greek system by joining the sorority Kappa Zeta Phi, a service and social sorority. Through the sorority Fanny participated in helping to feed the homeless, beautifying the city by painting over graffiti on business buildings, and picking up trash around the beautiful beaches in San Diego. Fanny has also developed lifelong friendships with the people she worked with in the sorority.
After college, Fanny refused to leave the beautiful city of San Diego that she had grown to love. She attended law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law where she continued to assist the community by volunteering for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego in their unlawful detainer and temporary restraining order clinics. Fanny also volunteered at the Alternative Public Defenders Office where she worked in the Dependency and Juvenile departments. Fanny also continued to develop her practical legal skills by working for professors and solo practitioners throughout San Diego.
Since starting her legal career back in college, Fanny has had experience in construction defect, business litigation, real estate litigation, trust and estate, elder law, bankruptcy, family, and general civil litigation. With the knowledge, she has gained and the dedication to volunteer work she has to the legal profession, Fanny is successful and detail oriented in everything that she does.
Fanny continues to volunteer in the legal community by participating in the free HOME Clinics that assist homeowners seeking to save their homes from foreclosure.

Justin Timothy Ryan

Justin was born in Mission Viejo, CA. Growing up he was heavily involved in Model United Nations and helped organize several conferences. He also was involved in numerous musical activities, including playing the saxophone and trombone.
He graduated from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) with a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in Japanese Studies. Justin then went on to the George Washington University School of Law and graduated in 2008. In his studies at George Washington, he was a part of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and volunteered at the Health Law Clinic. He spent his last semester of law school at Temple University’s Tokyo Campus studying international business law.
Justin has worked in the legal industry since 2008 and has experience in bankruptcy, business formation, criminal defense, DUI, business litigation, drafting and reviewing contracts, collections, unlawful detainer and general civil litigation.
Justin’s interests include camping, hiking, sports, travel, photography, and music.
