Quick Guide On What To Do After A Car Accident
(When It’s NOT Your Fault)
Getting into a car accident can be a stressful and traumatizing event, especially for someone who has never been in one before. That is why we think a quick summary of steps to take can often help comfort and possible even save lives…
Steps to Take Immediately After the Accident
Step One: Make sure everyone in your car is ok. Pull to the side of the road/highway if possible.
Step Two: Do not get out of your car until you’ve realized it is safe to do so.
Step Three: Make sure the people in the other car are ok.
Step Four: Call the police immediately. Call the paramedics immediately if someone is seriously injured. It is better to be overly cautious than not.
Step Five:Look around you and see if there are any witnesses who stopped and ask them to stay so they can give a statement to the police.
Step Six: Give your statement to the police, if you do not feel like you need to go to the emergency room. Make sure that you only tell them what you know for certain and not what you think may happen. You don’t want to change your story later. NOTE: Sometimes the police will not write a police report, especially if it’s just a fender bender with no significant personal or property injuries.
