Safe Travels

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years mean fun times with family and friends. It also means a lot of extra people on the road. More cars on the road, increases your chances of getting into an accident. While you don’t have control over the other guy, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of arriving at your holiday destination safe and sound.

Get your car ready.

Even if you live in an area that doesn’t generally get a lot of winter weather, such as San Diego, California, that doesn’t mean your destination is warm and sunny. Have your car checked out before hitting the road. Good brakes and tire and fluid levels are important in a long car ride, especially in climates where ice and snow are more likely and high traffic areas.

Be prepared.

Hopefully you won’t need it, but in the event of an accident or car trouble, an emergency kit could come in handy. Throw a Buy Cialis blanket, bottled water and a first-aid kit in the trunk. For long trips, a couple of flares can be a good idea as well. In the event you do find yourself broken down or in an accident, flares can increase the visibility of your car on a dark, snowy night.

Put the phone down.

If you need to make a call or send a text, pull over or wait for your next pit stop. Looking down for even a few seconds can result in an accident.

Don’t drink and drive!

If you plan to have a few drinks on your dinner break during your travels, have a designated driver. Getting behind the wheel not only puts you in danger, it also increases risk for other unsuspecting drivers.

If you do find yourself in an accident this holiday season, cal an attorney immediately. For DUIs, personal injuries and other accident charges in the San Diego area, contact Seneca Law Group at (619) 630-8529.
